HELLO! IT'S SUMMER FRIDAY
Friiiiiday. In the summertime. Well, not technically the summertime yet, but hopefully your offices and places of work are already observing the joys and wonders of Summer Friday. This glorious stretch of time when you open your laptop for a few hours in the morning, close it *right around noon* and then do whatever your heart desires
A glass of wine al fresco? Sure.
Start driving to a beach or mountain getaway? You bet.
Go home and turn on the AC and watch Real Housewives of New York? DO YOU.
Real question though: What is everybody reading this summer? Honestly, there is nothing in the world like sitting outside on a lazy summer afternoon, phone far away, reading a book. Give us all the suggestions. Please? This whole phone-far-away thing is no joke.
OH, also, on an entirely different note (please ignore the terrible segue), we all know 90s nostalgia is absolutely everywhere from scrunchies to tie-dye to tiny daisy prints and mom jeans. But if you want to go straight to the source, WATCH THE OLD BEVERLY HILLS 90210.
The whole series is on Hulu and wowowow, if that isn't some serious style inspiration, I don't know what is. Seriously, just google any looks from the first 3 seasons and you'll see that all of us walking around the streets of New York are just lesser versions of these OG icons, and we need to bow down to the magic that was 1991-1993
As usual, here are our favorite readings and random tidbits from around the web - what inspired us, what we're talking about and what we're coming back to later
Here are some of our favorites from around the web...
// The pursuit of "wellness" is a total drag on our lives and on our dinner conversations, especially for women
// Our houses got bigger, but McMansions didn't make us any happier
// Selena Gomez is one of the most followed celebrities on Instagram, but she doesn't have the app on her phone because of what it does to her mental health... some wisdom here
// If pay for performance is what society wants, then shouldn't these ladies be making top dollar? We grew up in the Mia Hamm era, so we are all. for. this.
// Will I ever be as happy about anything as Drake was after the Raptors won the NBA Championship? Probably not, but I'm okay with it. His Facetime call with Steph Curry was also fire.
// Gwenyth Paltrow, the queen of conscious uncoupling, throws us another curveball and tells us she doesn't live with her husband
// Would you Instagram your Botox appointment? Not sure how we feel about this trend quite yet. All for destygmatization, but something about this feels a little *too* casual
// Apparently granny panties are back in and we all have Rihanna to thank for that (obviously)
// Soho house just launched a new home furniture line. It ain't cheap, but it sure is luxe
// A soon-to-be no-waste coffee shop is opening in Brooklyn. V curious to stop by
// I want to go to here and drink a nice chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
// And if you want an easy summer appetizer, here's pan fried feta because fried cheese.
That's our offering for the week. As always, you know where to find us. Text us, email us, send us snail mail. Tell us just about anything on your mind. We're building Noofood for you.
